Where did you guys come from?
For a wonderful account of the earliest days of Quadramics from Joseph Sayegh (C'74), one of Q's first members, please go here.
The name Quadramics is derived from the Quadrangle, where our group formed in the 1970s. Q has since left the Quad, but our commitment to Quality theater produced entirely by the students of the University of Pennsylvania remains as strong as ever. Founded in 1973, Quadramics was initiated as an alternative to the Pennsylvania Players, giving student directors a crucial creative outlet that had previously been nonexistent.
Quadramics is Penn's first purely student directed and produced theatre organization. Our mission is simply this: to allow Penn students to learn and create in an atmosphere that emphasizes quality in every aspect of production, be it technical or performance. We produce two shows a year: our fall drama and the Spring Fling Musical, the culminating event of the Penn theatrical season and a Fling weekend institution.
Past productions include David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross, The Who's Tommy, Terrance McNally's Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Neil Simon's Rumors, Andrew Lloyd Weber's Jesus Christ Superstar, James Goldman's The Lion in Winter, Sam Shepard's True West, Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show and the Philadelphia premieres of both Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party and Stephen Sondheim's Assassins.
Now you know, you better wash yourself off man cause you just got knowledge all over your face.
